TITLE OF STUDY:
Growth Marketing for a Gardening Supplier
CHALLENGE:
To create a marketing and e-commerce site complete with an
inventory and order management system for a major supplier of plants in
North America.
SOLUTION:
Using original botanical art, Sprintout provided a design that placed
the company squarely in its agriculture-based industry, while providing
important and useful information for customers and prospects (such as
shipping rates, delivery schedules and growing zone information).
-
The site’s navigation employs a color-coding
scheme that provides a step-by-step approach to accessing the
vast amount of information on the site.
-
A design template ensures that customer registration (for first-time
visitors) and log-in (for those already registered) are always in the
same relative location on the page. Users are always only one
convenient click away from being able to place an order.
-
Sprintout implemented a custom-designed “availability list” that
provides timely information on inventory that’s ready to ship. The
Skagit site employs a complete e-commerce system which allows customers
to search
the entire database of products using any number of criteria such as size, color, type of plant, etc. Customers can see available quantities, the
plants’ state of readiness, and compile and place orders, all
on line.
BACKGROUND: Skagit Gardens of Mount Vernon, WA, is a major supplier
of bedding plants, finished plants, specialty plants and hanging
baskets to growers and retail garden centers throughout much of North
America. Its site is an outstanding example of the art and science of
web site design as practiced by Sprintout.
