BACKGROUND: Teknor Apex was founded in 1924 as a tire distributor and retreader. The company now has a number of business units engaged in diverse activities such as manufacturing and marketing garden hose, floor mats and food cutting boards, and producing PVC and thermoplastic elastomer materials, color concentrates and additives. Together, these divisions serve domestic and international markets in the plastics, rubber, chemicals, and other industries.
